I grew up on a farm in Bucks county PA where I was happiest spending my time outside. At a young age I fell in love with the flower and vegetable gardens that grew around me. Now my paintings and photographs are inspired by forms and colors found in my own garden, gardens of friends, Chanticleer garden, and the larger world of nature.
Arikawa, one of Japan's living treasures states "If the artist absorbs the beauty of the natural world it will be revealed in the work."
In Art in the Garden I invite my students to absorb this beauty. I believe it is crucial for young people to keep their eyes and hands on what is real in nature. As one of my first grade students said "Lucretia, do you know that in the middle of the word EARTH is the word ART?"
